The Burden Of The Cross
As my Savior did His Father's will.
He needed no chains that H
Never placed upon my head
Was the cruel crown of thorn
Pierced with blood of red
That made Him cry and morn ...
He needed no chains that He might
flee.
Never
whipped and spit upon
And humiliated beyond compare,
How humble was the agony
That my Savior did bear ...
He needed no chains that He might
flee.
Never carried the heavy cross
Or struggled up Golgotha Hill,
One so worthy of God's love
As my Savior did His Father's
will ...
He needed no chains that He might
flee.
Never nails driven in my hands
and feet
Like Him that hung there on
the rugged cross,
No piercing in my side
None like Him has paid the cost
...
He needed no chains that He might
flee.
Daily I do carry
The thorn of flesh given to me,
But God's love is sufficient
His love sets me free ...
I need no chains for His love
keeps me.
Daily I do carry
The cross sometimes hard to bear,
But my Savior is there with me
Always filled with care ...
I need no chains for His love
keeps me.

If Christ lives within us,
We need no chains to bind us
down.
We're on the straight and
narrow,
Waiting patiently for our robe
and crown.

If Christ is our
keeper, we're kept by the power of God.
